Houthi gunmen assassinate a tribal sheikh in Sanaa

Houthi gunmen assassinated on Tuesday a tribal sheikh in Yemen's Sanaa and imposed a complete siege on citizens' homes. local sources said.

Armed vehicles belonging to the Houthis intercepted a car driven by Sheikh Adel Abdullah Sbeih Al-Sarefi near the Marib Street, and fired heavily at his car, killing him instantly. The sources added.

The sources pointed out that the militia then sent a military campaign reinforced with dozens of military vehicles to besiege the homes of the residents of the Saref area and arrested a number of them to prevent any gathering and an expected reaction from the population towards the killing of the tribal sheikh.

During the last period, the Saref area witnessed confrontations between Houthi groups and the people of the area, against the background of Houthi leaders' attempts to seize by force of arms large lands owned by the residents.

Last August, there were casualties in confrontations between the militia and tribesmen in the Saref area, against the background of preventing Houthi attempts to confiscate the citizens' lands.
