Iran-backed Houthis loot ancient antiquities of a historic fort in Ibb
The Iran-backed Houthis continue to loot historical and archaeological forts in their areas of control, under several pretexts.
Private sources told Khabar Agency that the Houthi leader Abu Yahya, looted the historic fortress of Saqrqar, which is located in the Al-Radhmah district of Ibb, in central Yemen.
According to the sources, the Houthis, citing the presence of mines, explosive devices, and remnants of war in that area, made a way to the top of the mountain where the historical fortress of Saqrqar is located, and they were working on it at night. The work lasted for nearly two months.
According to the sources, the Houthis smuggle antiquities and sell them outside Yemen in cooperation with military leaders affiliated with the Yemeni government, who facilitate their arrival to the interim capital Aden, then smuggle them out of Yemen and sell them in European auctions.
A number of the people of the area confirmed the presence of tombs, excavations, signs, tunnels and catacombs indicating the presence of treasures and antiquities.
