Internal Houthi disputes over health sector escalated

The Houthi internal disputes escalated in the health sector, to expand in the governorates under the control of the group, which included changes to the directors of the sector's offices in several directorates, the latest of which was the referral of dozens of employees to retirement, which the Houthi Council of Ministers considered in violation of previous decisions issued by the Council.

Private sources told Khabar Agency that Taha Al-Mutawakel, who was appointed by the Houthi militia as Minister of Health, issued several decisions to the directors of the health offices in the governorates to immeditley change the directors of the health offices in the directorates.

According to the sources, the general directors of public health and population offices in the governorates issued decisions that included changes to dozens of directors of health offices in the directorates of the capital Sana'a, and the directorates in other governorates under their control.

A number of those who have been appointed in positions of management of public health and population offices in the directorates do not have any health qualification to be appointed in the health sector. The sources said.

Medical sources told Khabar Agency that the Al-Mutawakel issued a decision to refer 130 health personnel to retirement, as a result of a dispute between him and prominent Houthi leaders whose relatives were appointed to high positions in the health sector, which shows the severity of the internal disputes within the ranks of the group.
