Fire breaks out in a camp housing 10 African families in Marib
A fire broke out on Friday in a camp in Marib Governorate, Yemen, which houses a number of African migrant families, causing significant damage to their properties.
The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management in the governorate stated that the fire broke out in Ghassan camp near Al-Jathwa station in Al-Wadi directorate, due to a gas leak from a cooking stove.
The fire consumed the shelters of 10 African refugee families, all of whom are Ethiopian nationals, causing extensive material damage without any human casualties. The Unit said.
According to a previous report by the unit, from January to July, 143 displaced families shelters burned down in several camps, resulting in the deaths of 6 displaced individuals and the injury of 18 others.
