Six Injured, One Dead in Renewed Tribal Clashes in Shabwah

One person was killed and six others sustained varying injuries in renewed tribal confrontations involving heavy weaponry that erupted on Friday morning in Shabwah Governorate, southeastern Yemen.

A medical source at Shabwah General Hospital in the city of Ataq confirmed the reception of one deceased individual and six wounded resulting from the clashes, which broke out between the Al Adiyu (Luqmush) tribes in the Al Khabar area of Habhan district.

A tribal source stated that the confrontations included the use of medium-caliber weapons and heavy artillery between the Al Ahmed bin Hussein and Al Shaibah factions, causing extensive damage to residential homes.

Amidst the escalating violence, public and media circles have issued urgent appeals to the tribal elders and dignitaries of Shabwah and Abyan to intervene immediately and establish a field presence between the warring parties to cease hostilities and protect lives and property.

Residents also called upon local authorities and security agencies to take swift action to halt what they described as a blatant violation of public peace and the sanctity of homes, noting that these clashes occurred following the failure of a tribal mediation effort aimed at resolving an old blood feud.

Several regions in Yemen are experiencing a rise in tribal disputes and recurring blood feuds, exacerbated by the fragile security situation and the ongoing repercussions of the war in the country.
