Jouf Markets Shut Down in Protest Over Merchant's Killing by Houthi Militiaman

Merchants in the Al-Brat Al-Anan and Al-Marashi markets in Al-Jawf governorate, controlled by Houthi militias, staged a comprehensive strike on Saturday to protest the killing of citizen Abdullah Al-Barzi by a Houthi militiaman.

Local sources reported that the strike was triggered by an incident where a Houthi element identified as Abdul Salam Ja'dar fatally shot Al-Barzi. The incident reportedly occurred without apparent justification or immediate cause.

The protesting merchants and residents announced the continued closure of both markets and the suspension of commercial activities until the demands of the victim's family are met. These demands primarily include the handover of the accused to the competent authorities for prosecution and the imposition of legal penalties.

Protesters affirmed their commitment to the strike and ongoing demonstrations until justice is served. They urged the Houthi militia to promptly address their demands and ensure justice for the victim's family.
