Yemeni National Resistance Forces Intercept Iranian Military Shipment Bound for Houthis

The naval forces of the Yemeni National Resistance announced the interception of a vessel in the Red Sea carrying a shipment of military electronics and equipment allegedly destined for the Houthi militia to facilitate the development of offensive drones.

The operation, conducted on August 24 following an intelligence-led surveillance mission, targeted maritime activity linked to smuggling networks allegedly operating on behalf of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the National Resistance’s military media wing, naval patrols successfully intercepted the vessel and detained its crew.

Footage released by the organization displayed various seized items, including guidance and control systems, live image processing equipment, flight system components, and wireless communication hardware. While the resistance stated that these components are intended for the manufacturing of offensive unmanned aerial vehicles, independent technical verification of the equipment's origin or specific end-use remains forthcoming.

Preliminary interrogations of the detained crew reportedly yielded intelligence regarding smuggling routes and coordination protocols established by the IRGC. The military media wing has announced that further evidence, including video confessions from the crew, is expected to be released shortly to provide additional context on the logistics of the shipment.

This incident occurs amidst persistent allegations from the Yemeni government and Western nations regarding Iran’s provision of military and technical support to the Houthi militia, a charge Tehran consistently denies. The National Resistance stated that its forces were subjected to missile fire along the western coast during the operation but asserted that the attack failed to impede the successful seizure of the illicit cargo.
