Yemeni government and Houthi rebels are involved in swallowing $ 28 billion over 5 years- documents
A score of activists and observers have demanded a full investigation and and accountability of State actors that are engaged in the urgent programs with international organizations in vital and service sectors, and accountability for accomplices in the ongoing corruption operations for five years.
They stressed the need for organizations to be held accountable and to know where these billions have gone, which did not benefit the Yemeni people, but indeed made them in extreme poverty, and to emphasize that these organizations request their financial and technical reports and legally review these sums and where they were spent, and make sure of that on the ground.
Human rights sources revealed that during the past five years, Saudi Arabia has provided humanitarian aid estimated at about $ 18 billion (of which $ 9 billion and 480 million were paid directly to the U.N organizations operating in Yemen, and the rest was disbursed through the King Salman Center).
The UAE also provided in the past five years humanitarian aid in the amount of $ 4 billion and 580 million (of which $ 3 billion and 384 million were paid directly to the U.N organizations operating in Yemen, and the rest was disbursed through the Emirates Red Crescent).
In addition to the sums granted by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, international organizations have received sums from international donors such as America, the European Union and Canada, in addition to what they mentioned from the Gulf countries, and according to their documents, they amounted to $ 15 billion, including $ 4 billion in the year 2019, at a time when there is no trace of these billions of dollars but went with the wind.
According to documents published by Yemeni Dr. Abdul Qadir Al Kharaz, international organizations received in 2016 an amount of $ 3 billion, $ 4 billion in 2017, $ 5 billion in 2018, and in 2019 received $ 4 billion. A total of $ 15 billion.
According to the documents, all these sums are not what the Saudi Arabia and the UAE paid to these organizations, which amounted to $ 12 billion and 864 million, with a total amount of $ 27 billion and 864 million in astronomical sums that express the size of corruption that plagues all parties to the conflict in Yemen and their desire to continue the war.
Al Kharaz said in his Facebook Account that he, along with a number of lawyers and activists in the field of fighting corruption, submitted more than one report to the Attorney General and the Supervisory Authority, as well as the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Yemeni Prime Minister's and the Presidency's Offices, in addition to various campaigns to expose the corruption of these organizations, including the campaign #where_is_the_money, but there was no positive response to these reports by concerned government agencies, which confirm their complicity and involvement in cases of corruption of funds, grants, and aid provided by donors delivered to international organizations.
