Mine Clearance Project "Masam" Destroys 663 Explosive Remnants in Hadhramaut

A specialized team from the "Masam" mine clearance project in Yemen, in coordination with the Executive Center for Mine Action in Mukalla, destroyed 663 mines and explosive remnants of war in Hadhramaut Governorate on Wednesday. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to clear areas contaminated by war debris.

The materials destroyed included 7 anti-personnel mines, 8 anti-tank mines, and 30 hand grenades. Additionally, dozens of unexploded shells and munitions were neutralized, comprising 66 artillery shells of 37mm caliber, 5 shells of 82mm caliber, and 9 mortar shells of the same caliber. The total also included 315 DShK rounds of 12.7mm caliber and 223 artillery shell fuses.

This marks the tenth such operation conducted in Hadhramaut Governorate since mid-January. Since January 17th, "Masam" teams have successfully destroyed approximately 16,850 explosive items in the governorate, including mines, improvised explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance.

These destruction operations are undertaken as part of a broader program aimed at mitigating the risks posed by mines and war remnants, which endanger civilian lives, particularly in regions that have experienced military confrontations in recent years.
