Houthi Ballistic Missile Strike Destroys 13 Homes in Taiz Village

A ballistic missile launched by Houthi forces struck the remote village of Adud in the Sabir Al-Mawadim district of Taiz, Yemen, on Sunday, resulting in the destruction of 13 residential homes.

Local sources and human rights advocates reported that the village, situated approximately 13 kilometers from active frontlines, was targeted despite its isolated geography. The area is characterized by rugged terrain inaccessible to vehicles, with residents relying on narrow footpaths for transportation and the movement of livestock.

This incident serves as a stark example of the ongoing vulnerability of civilian populations in Taiz to Houthi shelling. The strike highlights a broader pattern of aggression in which residential areas, even those far removed from combat zones, are subjected to heavy weaponry, endangering the lives and property of non-combatants.

The attack is part of a recurring series of Houthi offensives against civilian infrastructure across the governorate. These operations frequently employ artillery shells and missiles, indiscriminately targeting populated regions and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the province.

In recent months, various parts of Taiz have witnessed intensified shelling and sniper fire, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, including women and children. Human rights organizations continue to call for an immediate cessation of these attacks and demand accountability for those responsible for the systematic violation of international humanitarian law.
