National Resistance Intelligence Dismantles Houthi Assassination Cell

National Resistance intelligence has successfully apprehended members of a Houthi assassination cell responsible for the murder of journalist Mohammed Ayedha and a planned attempt on a defected military leader. This marks the second such cell dismantled by the National Resistance in the past month.

Military media for the National Resistance reported that the General Intelligence agency, in cooperation with the State Security apparatus in the interim capital of Aden, has arrested two individuals. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend a third member of the cell, which has confessed to assassinating journalist Mohammed Ayedha in Mukalla and plotting the murder of Brigadier General Salah Al-Salahi in Aden.

The cell reportedly operates under the direction of the Houthi militia. Following the exposure of the assassination cell responsible for the death of Brigadier General Yahya Waeish, intelligence services detected Houthi attempts to recruit Brigadier General Salah Al-Salahi. Al-Salahi had departed from Al-Mukha for Cairo on leave the previous month.

Al-Salahi, formerly the commander of the so-called Al-Samad Brigade before defecting from Houthi-controlled areas to join the National Resistance, received calls from individuals claiming to represent "Affash Tariq." Intelligence directed him to maintain communication as part of a plan to lure the plotters into a trap.

An agreement was reached to arrange a meeting at a hotel in Aden. Upon confirmation of the meeting time, the intelligence services alerted the State Security apparatus in Aden, which subsequently raided the designated location and apprehended the cell members.
